Hello Students!!!! How are you? How is everything at Arlington Hills? What have you been doing in class?I am in Nairobi, Kenya. We just finished the 2-day program in Kibera. Kibera is inside Nairobi. One million people live there. It is very poor - there is not enough food, not good water, and not enough toilets. Many kids can't pay their school fees. Even though life is difficult everyone we met there was very friendly and kind.
Here are some pictures from the program. We studied nonviolent communication. Nonviolent communication means talking without fighting. Kids practiced talking about feelings and needs.

I'm in DC right now preparing for my first big day of training. Should be interesting, hopefully fun, and tiring! I'm EXHAUSTED! It sounds like you two are having a blast, and I'm so happy you made it there safe and sound.I'm reading a book about Africa that reminds me (so far) of you. It's "Walking Away: A Film-maker's African Journal". She writes beautifully...You should pick it up when you get back!
